CIVIC
Winterport Clippers Quilting Chapter - The Winterport Clippers, a newly formed chapter of the Pine Tree Quilters Guild Inc., invites anyone with an interest in quilting to join the group. You need not have any past experience in quilting. The chapter meets the first and third Monday of each month from 7pm to 9pm at the Victoria Grant Civic Center located at 40 Park Drive in Winterport. Winterport Woman's Club/GFWC - is a dedicated community service organization donating hundreds of volunteer hours and multiple resources towards various community service projects each year. Winterport Historical Society Winterport Historical Association Our meetings are held the second Monday of each month, October through May. During the months of July and August the museum is open from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm each Tuesday. Winterport Open Stage is 501 C3 Non Profit org. WOS was founded in 1993 by a few friends who had nothing better to do with their time and soon after we produced our first play Prelude To A Kiss. ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS
Cove Brook and its watershed, a part of the Lower Penobscot watershed, is located in Winterport and Hampden. Cove Brook is the last of the eight rivers in Maine to be designated by the federal government as containing endangered Atlantic salmon. In response, local citizens formed a watershed council in the winter of 2001. In the six years since its formation, the Council has been involved in actively monitoring, restoration, and education projects on the brook and in the watershed. Howard Masonic Lodge #69 Freemasonry is the world's oldest and largest fraternity. For three centuries, it has beckoned men of good character to its ranks. Winterport Lions Club Lion's are volunteers and Members of the Largest Volunteer Service Organization in the World who are striving to eliminate preventable blindness in our lifetime. Towards this goal, we support Diabetes Awareness and prevention, vision screening for glaucoma, macular degeneration and other common vision problems. We also support Community youth and elderly activities and strive to make our Community a better place to live. The American Legion Post 138 Argonne - P.O. The American Legion Auxiliary has conceived and implemented hundreds of programs for veterans, their families, young people and the community at large. Many programs have been expanded and now are commonly accepted institutions within the community and nation.
