The Neighbor's Cupboard is the emergency food resource for low income families, the working poor, and other families in distress in Winterport and Frankfort. If you are in need of food please come see us. We are a non-profit organization located off of Route 69 at the end of Park Drive in the Victoria Grant Community Center. Clients are welcome to visit on Wednesday mornings from 9:00 to 10:00 AM or until the last person in line is served.
Your family will be given a three day supply of food, including some fresh vegetables from local farmers during the warmer months.
This is our 26th year lending a hand to our neighbors in Winterport and Frankfort. Last year 160 families used the Cupboard for a total of 1400 visits. More than 3500 bags of food were give out.
We are supported by food drives and fund-raisers throughout the year. These include Smith and Wagner schools, Hampden Academy and the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. We are fortunate to receive regular support from the Frankfort Congregational Church, St. Gabriel's, Ellingwood's Corner UMC and Nealley's Corner Church. In addition the May Letter Carrier's food drive is an important source of food. An annual request for funds is mailed to the community each November. We thank the community for its generous financial support.
Our heartfelt thanks go to the wonderful organizations, businesses, and town folk who through your volunteer hours and donations of food and money support the Neighbor's Cupboard.
Special thanks go to our current Cupboard volunteers: Donna Allen, Betty Williams, Stan Bowden, Keith Ritchie, Tom Skratt, Kristen Hallett, Chris Bates, Sandy Comeau, Philis Allen, Janet Keene, Brenda LaValley, Don Quigley, Annie Robinson, Fred Emery and Jean St. John.
