We will be holding a special election on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the town office. There will be two items to be voted on; 1 RSU#22 Director (due to resignation) and a referendum to increase the debt limit for the Water District but for a lesser amount that was voted on in June. Nomination papers for the school board opening can be picked up at the town office during regular business hours and must be returned no later than the end of business on July 16, 2018. The Water District referendum is necessary to replace the existing water tower that services the village, the schools, and our fire protection for the whole town. The existing tank is leaking badly and if it does fail it would be catastrophic to our community. The repair cost is very close to the cost for replacing the tank which would be put in a new area at a higher elevation thus helping with water pressure especially at the Wagner School. The new tank would be a concrete model which would not rust out over the years. The Water District will be holding a public hearing on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the town office. They also will be mailing out informational flyers to all of our residents over the next couple of weeks explaining the basis for this request.
