How Do I

Renew or register a vehicle
Online

Winterport residents have the ability to re-register their vehicles using Rapid Renewal, a secure, online service provided by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Residents will need their credit or debit card, previous years registration, and proof or insurance in order to use this service. Renewal

  1. Insurance card for this vehicle
  2. Have the current mileage on the vehicle
  3. Current registration (helpful but not required if the vehicle was registered in Winterport)
New

  • Dealership Purchase
  1. Bill of Sale
  2. Window Sticker if vehicle is brand new
  3. Title Application (Blue Sheet)
  4. Insurance card for this vehicle
  • Private Sale
  1. Bill of Sale
  2. Title (for all vehicles 1995 and newer)
  3. Insurance card for this vehicle

Obtain a burn permit
Burn Permits can be obtained at the Town Office at 44 Main Street, Monday through Thursday during regular business hours.  There is no charge for this permit.

After hours and on weekends please contact the Fire Chief, Phil Foley, at (207) 956-4520. There is no charge for this permit.

You can also obtain a permit from the State online for free.

Permits will only be issued as follow:

Class 1 Low 

Class 2 Moderate  

Class 3, 4 & 5 day - NO PERMIT No Burning Allowed 

NEW SITE:  You can now obtain a burning permit at wardensreport.com for free.  Permits are only issued for one day and can only be issued for use after 5pm.
Apply for a plumbing permit
Septic System Permit

You need to have an engineer design your system.  They should provide you with 3 copies which will be brought to the Town Office to obtain the permit.  The cost of this permit is $250.00 plus a charge from the Environment Protection Agency of $15.00.  Total cost is $265.00.

Indoor Permit

You need to fill out the permit at the Town Office, indicating how many fixtures will be installed in the house  Each fixture has a charge of $10.00 and will require the Master Plumbers State Identification Number.
